Curriculum Vitae
Biography
Joonkil Ahn's scholarship examines how leadership as an organizational quality enhances staff development and student learning outcomes. Framing teachers as proactive reform agents, not as targets of it, his research also investigates how teacher collaboration and individual and collective efficacy operate with and mediate the relationships between principal leadership and student learning. Primarily using quantitative methods, his research actively engages in innovative approaches such as multilevel structural equation modeling and diverse longitudinal analysis, measuring organizational leadership enactment and investigating its impacts on school improvement and marginalized students' STEM learning and career paths. As a former high school English teacher for 17 years in South Korea, some of his professional experiences include a department chair, a professional learning community consultant for schools and districts, and President of a national teacher association. He is also certified as a principal (PreK-12; Illinois) and a teacher of English as a second language (PreK-12; Illinois, Tennessee).
