Biography
Dr. Lingyun Kong is a Research Scientist at the EERC, where he works in the Natural Materials Analytical Research Laboratory to conduct laboratory analyses and interpret data in support of research activities related to improved production of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs, enhanced oil recovery in unconventional and conventional formations, and subsurface storage of CO2 and/or rich gas. Dr. Kong holds a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering from UND; a Master of Geological Resources and Geological Engineering from the China University of Petroleum, Beijing; and a Bachelor of Resource Exploration Engineering from China University of Petroleum, East China.
Dr. Kong’s principal areas of interest and expertise include application of 3-D printing in rock physics and rock mechanics experiments, multiscale rock imaging and digital rock physics, characterization of unconventional shale, reservoir geological modeling, and geophysical interpretation. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, American Rock Mechanics Association, Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts, International Association of Rock Physicists, and American Geophysical Union. Dr. Kong serves as a reviewer for Fuel, Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, Journal of Materials Science, and Materials & Design. He has authored or coauthored numerous peer-reviewed and other professional publications.
