Social Justice Living Learning Community
NEW FOR FOR FALL 2016
The Social Justice Living-Learning Community (LLC) is designed for students who are:
- interested in learning more about and practicing principles of social justice including issues of equality and diversity
- involved in promoting a more inclusive and just society
- interested in bringing about positive social change.
Members of the Social Justice LLC believe that each person shares the responsibility of creating an environment in which all residents are respected and valued – regardless of one’s age, size, gender, sexual orientation, identity or identity expression, disability, race, ethnicity, color, creed, national origin, cultural background, socio-economic status, or religious affiliation or conviction. Join us in embracing our differences and appreciating the unique perspectives each person brings to the UND community!
Location
The Social Justice LLC is located in Selke Hall.
How to Apply
Students should indicate this LLC on their residence hall application. If you have already applied or renewed your housing and would like to change your hall preference to Selke Hall, please email the Housing Office at housing@UND.edu with your request.
In addition to traditional room assignment process, the Social Justice LLC will offer the option of a gender inclusive housing assignments, providing the option for students to live with the roommate with whom they are most comfortable without consideration to the individual’s sex, gender or gender expression. Students will only be assigned to gender inclusive assignments at their request. Gender inclusive room assignment requests must be mutual. This community will be open to both new and returning students of all majors.
Events and Activities
Members of the Social Justice LLC will have the opportunity to engage unique activities and events designed to help broaden their understanding of social justice and provide opportunities to get involved in creating and leading positive social change. Examples may include guest speakers, film series, book club, and service-learning opportunities.
