Alice C. Brekke - Biography
Alice Brekke was named vice president for finance and operations at UND in May 2009. She provides leadership for the university's administrative and operational division that includes the areas of budget, payroll, public safety, human resources, controller, capital projects and planning, facilities management, emergency management, information services and several auxiliary enterprises.
Brekke has served UND since 1979 in a number of support and leadership roles including assistant to the president/budget director, assistant to the dean for the School of Engineering and Mines, business manager for the Energy and Environmental Research Center, director of grants and contracts, and budget director.
In addition to being involved in numerous committees and boards, Brekke is active in teaching workshops/seminars in the areas of budgeting, leadership, grant and contract management, strategic planning and budgeting, higher education funding models and a variety of technical topics. She is a certified management accountant as well as a certified research administrator, and maintains memberships in the National Association of College and University Business Officers/Central Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO/CACUBO), the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
Brekke earned her bachelor's degree in 1979 and her master's degree in 1987, both in accountancy from UND.
