UND Dakota Student, editorial staff honored at midwest college journalism convention
University of North Dakota student journalists with The Dakota Student newspaper took home several awards recently at the 2012 Associated College Press Best of the Midwest College Journalism Convention in Minneapolis.
Over the Feb. 10-12 weekend, The Dakota Student won third place overall in the "Best of Show" category for non-weekly publications at four-year colleges in the Midwest. In addition, Brandi Jewett, editor-in-chief, won third place in the editorial category for her Oct. 4, 2011, opinion piece "Vandalism not okay." The Dakota Student's Timothy Boger took fourth place in the "Best of the Midwest Sports Story" category for his article "Nelson leads UND past Co. College," in the Dec. 2, 2011, edition. Attending the event with Jewett and Boger were Dakota Student editors Robb Jeffries and Megan Sevigny, and staff writers Cullen Donohue, Christen Furlong, Mariah Holland and Jaye Millspaugh.
