AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification Workshop

What is it?
A review of AFAA's Basic Exercise Standards and Guidelines, anatomy, exercise science, exercise evaluation and exam criteria. The day concludes with the practical and written exams. The program format includes:

Who is it for?
For aspiring group exercise instructors whose training and educational background has prepared them to take the AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification exam. (UND Wellness Center membership NOT required)
Prerequisites: Early registration, self-study before program and group exercise teaching experience. Current CPR/AED certification required before certificate is issued (The Practical Skills & Choreography workshop is a useful precursor).Includes: Study guide (shipping additional), one-day review, written and practical exams, one-year AFAA membership or extender, including a subscription to American Fitness magazine.
What does it cost?
The workshop fee is $299* (less a 10% discount for current AFAA members. Corporate affiliate discounts may not be combined).

AFAA GEAR Cycling Workshop

WHAT IS IT?
This one-day onsite workshop includes the latest research on cycling biomechanics and physiology, as well as a variety of drills and techniques with an emphasis on long-term safety, injury prevention and results. G.E.A.R combines theoretical knowledge, practical training and creative ideas for designing a safe and effective indoor cycling class that is new and exciting. Be adventurous and G.E.A.R. up!

AFAA Personal Training Certification Workshop

WHAT IS IT?
A three-day certification workshop including lectures, practical demonstrations and written and practical exams. This course will help prepare you for both AFAA's Personal Fitness Trainer Certification and the Personal Fitness Trainer National Boards. The curriculum includes:
Anatomy and kinesiology. Fitness assessment testing procedures (3-minute Step test, sit-and-reach, push-up, abdominal crunch, body composition screening with skin-fold caliper measurement)Nutrition fundamentals and weight management. Special populations and medical considerations. Listening, leadership and motivational skills. Exercise programming in the weight room. Wellness programming and screening guidelines

For the aspiring and experienced fitness professional working one-on-one with exercise clients.
Early registration and pre-study is required.Weightroom/weight training experience is strongly recommended.

Yogafit Level 1 Certification

This informative workshop gives instructors the tools to create inspiring vinyasa yoga classes that are founded on flow yet grounded in the safety of exercise science. The learning includes physical execution, transitions, and modifications to traditional yoga poses with an emphasis on effectiveness and safety. Dynamic vinyasa sequencing, flowing class formats, and transformative language for communicating the mind/body connection have made this the most popular vinyasa yoga style in the world today. While most attendees have experience as either yoga students, teachers, therapists, or as fitness professionals, there are no prerequisites, only the desire to learn and commitment to attend. Level 1 includes an innovative and experiential learning environment guided by a talented and experienced YogaFit Master Trainer, a YogaFit Level 1 DVD and Active Volume 3 CD (first-time participants only), and a comprehensive training manual.YogaFit has trained thousands of people worldwide. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion which qualifies one to teach YogaFit style classes once Community Service is complete. Participants in the YogaFit Community Service program have taught to seniors, children, teens at risk, cancer survivors, HIV patients, handicapped persons, incarcerated individuals and stressed out corporate executives.

Certification: In order to receive the Level 1 Teacher Training Certificate of Completion, YogaFit requires the Level 1 Trainee to donate 8 hours of practice teaching in a community service setting, bringing the gift of yoga to individuals who would not normally be exposed to yoga on a regular basis.
