Biography
Brittany Fischer is the Scholarly Communications and Social Sciences Librarian at the Chester Fritz Library, University of North Dakota. She is committed to transparency, open communication, and lifelong learning, and she values cultivating relationships and building trust across campus and broader communities.
In her role, Brittany supports students, faculty, and staff in navigating library resources and spaces, developing ethical research practices, and engaging critically with information. She provides instruction and consultations across the social sciences and leads initiatives related to scholarly communication, including open access, publishing, copyright, and author rights.
Her professional interests include information literacy instruction, popular reading collection development, and teaching with popular literature, as well as expanding equitable access to information and library services. She champions open access and supports a wide range of scholarly and creative outputs. She is passionate about empowering users to become confident, informed participants in the information ecosystem.
