Biography

Jason R. Jenkins is an Assistant General Counsel and the University's patent and intellectual property attorney. He is housed in the Office of General Counsel but works very closely with the Vice President for Research & Economic Development and the office of Corporate Engagement & Commercialization. Jenkins also advises the University on contracts, agreements and policies as well as general legal issues.

Jenkins came to the University having spent several years in private practice, developing an extensive litigation background before focusing on intellectual property including patents, trademarks and copyrights. A registered patent attorney, Jenkins has represented clients of all shapes and sizes before the US Patent and Trademark Office, in litigation in state and federal courts, and in arbitration and mediation. Jenkins has advised individuals and businesses alike across many different industries and in all aspects of intellectual property protection, transactions, and enforcement strategies.

Jenkins received his BS in Biotechnology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and spent five years before and during law school working as a forensic DNA analyst in state and local crime laboratories. Jenkins received his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa School of Law, where he was a member of the TULSA LAW JOURNAL.

Jenkins is admitted to practice in North Dakota, Iowa and Oklahoma, and is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
