Biography
Stephanie Homstad joined the Social Work Department faculty in 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree with a minor in Psychology in 2006 and completed her Master of Social Work in 2007, both from the University of North Dakota.
Before transitioning to academia, Stephanie spent over eight years as a Family Preservation Case Manager with Grand Forks County Social Services. Her work focused on child welfare, including assessing child safety in the home, connecting families to services to reduce the risk of abuse or neglect, and working to prevent the removal of children from their homes. Before this role, she served as a Support Coordinator for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities living in the community.
In her role as Child Welfare Stipend Coordinator, Stephanie supports students pursuing careers in child welfare within North Dakota through the IV-E Child Welfare Stipend Program.
As Online Education Director, she serves as a preliminary advisor for students in the MSW Generalist and MSW Advanced Generalist Online Programs. She also works collaboratively with the MSW and BSSW program directors to support online learners.
Stephanie lives in Grand Forks with her husband and two daughters. A devoted animal lover, she shares her home with two dogs and a cat. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and doodling—often while listening to true crime documentaries or Court TV.
