Sexual Health Information
Your college years should be an exciting time of meeting new people, discovering new opportunities, experiencing what the campus has to offer and finding out what career path you will eventually take. During this time, there are positive and negative experiences regarding dating and intimate relationships. Being aware of the risks involved with intimate sexual activity and knowing about the types of protection available will help you prevent against the negative consequences of unhealthy sexual practices.
Our goal is to educate the UND population on how to make healthy and informed decisions pertaining to their sexual health and intimate relationships. We do this through awareness campaigns, presentations, and offering free preventative materials.
Things you should know:
- Abstinence is ALWAYS an option. Take time to decide your choices and preferences BEFORE you're in the situation. If you are going to be sexually active, be safe - use condoms and/or other barriers to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unintended pregnancy.
- The Gardasil® vaccine is strongly encouraged for both men and women; it protects against 90% of the strains of genital warts and 70% of Cervical Cancer cases in women. This vaccine is available at Student Health Services.
- Free condoms and other materials are available in the Health & Wellness Resource Office as well as Student Health Services.
- If you have questions regarding your sexual health, don't be afraid to ask a provider at Student Health Services.
