ICWA Hour
ICWA Hour is a monthly virtual gathering held on the fourth Thursday of each month, designed to support learning and engagement around the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Each session begins with a brief, focused overview of a key ICWA topic, followed by time dedicated to welcoming newly hired child welfare professionals—including agency and court personnel. Participants receive a foundational introduction to ICWA, helpful resources, and an overview of North Dakota’s ICWA Family Preservation Program.
ICWA: Letter of the Law
Attendees will gain the ability to understand and apply the Indian Child Welfare Act Federal Regulations and Guidelines as it pertains to Application & Verification of Emergency Removal; Informal and Formal ICWA Notice; Jurisdiction; Preferred Placement; Active Efforts. In addition, learners will engage in best practices when providing services to Indian FamiliesLearners will understand and learn ways to work with the Tribal programs and entities on and off the reservation.
