"Preserving Families, Honoring Culture, Creating Equity."

The North Dakota ICWA Family Preservation Partnership, a dedicated coalition of Tribal Nations, State and Non-Profit organizations, and community stakeholders, including families, schools, law enforcement, and many other care providers working together to create systemic change and achieve better outcomes for Native American families. Our partnership includes the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation (Three Affiliated Tribes), the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe, the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services: Children and Family Services, the North Dakota Supreme Court: Court Improvement Program, the Native American Training Institute, and the University of North Dakota: Social Work Department. By uniting these diverse entities, we strive to provide comprehensive and collaborative support to families, fostering a network of care that honors and strengthens our communities.

 Missions Statement

"To create a balanced and culturally responsive child and family support system that honors Native American culture and history. By collaborating with Tribal Nations, State organizations and community stakeholders, we champion the implementation of best practices that promote family preservation, health, and resilience. Our mission is to drive systemic change, make reparations for past injustices, and empower Native American families to achieve unity, equity, and wholeness while respecting their rights and heritage."

 Vision Statement

“Our vision is a world where child and family support services mean preserving families, honoring cultural legacies, and providing equitable opportunities for all. We see a future where communities are united in their efforts to safeguard the well-being of every child and advocate for lasting, positive change.”

The North Dakota ICWA Family Preservation Partnership is made possible through the valuable funding and technical assistance from the United States Administration for Children and Families, Children's Bureau.
