Part One: Start Your CDL Certified Theory Course with CDLOnline
Complete your CDL Certified Theory training anytime, anywhere—on your smartphone, from your couch, or at your office computer. If you can get online, you can access the course and complete your required theory training.
This theory course is part of the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) curriculum and prepares you for the Combination Vehicle Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit test. Along with online instruction, you’ll receive permit test practice questions and additional study tools.
Our curriculum is ELDT-approved and automatically updates the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) database the moment you finish. The course prepares you for the CDL Class A online test and the in-person CDL permit exam. You’ll learn the fundamentals of driving techniques, air brake systems, safe cargo handling, and more.
With this ELDT online training, you’ll be fully prepared for both the CDL Class A ELDT theory test and the CDL permit test at your local licensing agency (DMV). The course includes 13 lessons, each with an end-of-lesson quiz to reinforce your knowledge. Once you complete the CDLOnline course and take the CDL permit test at your local DMV, then you are ready for behind the wheel driving.
Part Two: Behind-the-Wheel Driving School
CES, (based out of West Fargo, ND and Willmar, MN) is the behind the wheel (BTW) driving partner for the training program. The provider is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and is a certified driving school by the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT). The goal is to provide high-quality Commercial Driver’s License training to develop knowledgeable and conscious professional truck drivers for the state of North Dakota, the region, and beyond.
After successfully completing the CDLOnline course, UND will verify the completion of the course and send the necessary documents to CES. CES will contact you regarding next steps. CES requires receipt of the CDL Permit once you have taken and passed the permit test. Students will then need to complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical and Drug Screening (in cooperation with CES) before beginning the BTW portion of the course.
