Graduate Student Advisory Council
Connect with graduate student representatives to share ideas, build community, and help shape a stronger graduate experience.
The Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC), within the School of Graduate Studies, brings together graduate students from across the university to provide input on Graduate School priorities, enhance the graduate student experience, and serve as a liaison between graduate students and the Graduate School. Council members represent a range of colleges, degree levels, and student populations, including both domestic and international students, as well as online and on-campus students.
The Graduate Student Advisory Council is a non-governing advisory group that shares student perspectives, offers feedback, and helps strengthen communication between graduate students and the Graduate School.
Council members will:
- Provide a student voice to help shape Graduate School priorities and practices
- Make recommendations to the Graduate School and related units on campus
- Consider ideas and discuss improvements to enhance graduate education and the graduate student experience
- Enhance graduate student awareness of the Graduate School, services, and programming
- Provide representation at a minimum of the two Graduate School activities per academic year
Meetings will be held three times each academic year in September, November, and April. Representatives serve up to a two-year term, with the option for one additional appointment. Total service may not exceed four years.
Graduate students are encouraged to connect with their council representative to share ideas, ask questions, suggest opportunities for improvement, and learn more about Graduate School resources and initiatives. Council members help bring student perspectives foward and connect students with the appropriate university offices and resources.
