As the best aviation school in the nation and our partnerships with a neighboring Air Force base, the Aerospace Studies program provides everything you need to become an officer.

Coursework is divided into eight classes, two of which are taken each year during your normal academic studies. The general military courses you'll take cover the mission and structure of the Air Force. A four-week summer field training program includes junior officer training, aircraft and aircrew indoctrination, and survival training. As part of the Leadership Laboratory, you'll hone your skills in a supervised setting, which can include field trips to installations throughout the United States.

After graduation from UND and the Aerospace Studies program, you'll be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force with a head start on your military career.

UND has deep connections with military. Located 16 miles west of campus, the Grand Forks Air Force Base is home to the Grand Sky, the first-of-its-kind unmanned aerial systems park, which partners with UND. Almost 1,000 of our current students are veterans or active military members.
