With this collaborative certificate between Psychology and Philosophy & Ethics you will be provided with enhanced understanding of psychological and philosophical perspectives on social, cultural and diversity issues relating to behavior and interpersonal interactions. 

Insights gained by examining diversity from the individual and theoretical viewpoints will enhance your career opportunities and be useful in many careers, especially those in healthcare, management, leadership, human resources and social science. Any career in which you have to work with humans, especially in groups or teams will benefit from this undergraduate certificate.

 In a fast-changing world in which people are more likely to switch jobs and careers over their lifetime, an in-depth understanding of others’ perspectives is becoming more important to be an effective team member or leader. Perspectives on Diversity Certificate Courses

PHIL 120. Introduction to Ethics. 3 Credits.

This course investigates the nature of the Good Life, of moral principles, and the application of moral systems to contemporary debate. These may include questions about the morality of war, capital punishment, sexual behavior, welfare, and so forth. F,S.

PSYC 360. Introduction to Personality. 3 Credits.

Examination of basic concepts in the field of personality. Prerequisite: PSYC 111. F,S.

PSYC 421. Diversity Psychology. 3 Credits.

Origins and consequences of psychological differences among individual and groups with special emphasis on sex differences and racial differences. Prerequisite: PSYC 111, PSYC 241, and PSYC 250 or consent of instructor. S, odd years.
