Banking Degree Requirements

Complete these requirements for a Banking & Financial Economics degree.

The Economics Faculty together with other faculty in the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration offer a major in Banking and Financial Economics that is intended to prepare students for employment with financial institutions and government. The major is comprised of a comprehensive curriculum that provides a background in basic business, economic theory, the principles and practices of banks and other financial institutions, bank regulation, macroeconomic policy and international finance. Experience has shown the graduates of this program are prepared to immediately function in highly responsible positions in financial institutions and regulatory agencies.

All B.B.A. candidates must fulfill the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration degree requirements.

Required 120 credit hours (36 of which must be numbered 300 or above) including:

I. Essential Studies Requirements (see University ES listing).

II. Choose one of the following: MATH 103, MATH 107,  MATH 146, or MATH 165

No more than 3 hours of electives from ECON 395 Special Topics in Economics, ECON 397 Cooperative Education, ECON 497 Internship and FIN 491 Senior Topics in Finance may count toward the elective major courses.

VI.  Nistler College of Business & Public Administration Graduation Requirements:

  1. Earn a minimum GPA of 2.00 (including transfer credits)
  2. Earn a minimum UND GPA of 2.00
  3. Earn a cumulative major GPA of 2.50 for all courses that apply toward the major (including transfer credits)
  4. At least half of the business courses that apply toward the major must be from UND (does not apply for BA in Political Science, BS in Public Affairs, or BA in Economics)

General Education Courses

Essential Studies (ES) is UND’s program in general education. Along with your required major courses, it helps form the core of your UND undergraduate education. Your ES courses focus on essential skills employers require including communication, critical thinking and problem solving.
