Students seeking the accelerated degree may apply to the School of Graduate Studies after completing 60 credits.

If you're an international student, refer to the international application process for deadlines.

Complete the required courses, and you'll earn both your bachelor's and master's degrees at the same time. You’ll declare your program of study as an undergraduate student and follow a straightforward plan to graduate with a master’s degree.

  1. Incoming freshman or transfer students apply to UND as an undergraduate student.
  2. After completing 60 credits, apply to the School of Graduate Studies.

Exercise and physical activity positively affect human life physiologically, psychologically and socially. In this industry-relevant degree you will develop a holistic understanding of these impacts.

With a combined bachelor's and master's degree in Kinesiology, you can align your career aspirations in areas such as:

  • Exercise scientist: Uses biomechanics, physiology, psychology and performance analysis to assess and improve an individual's fitness, sporting performance and general health.
  • Strength and conditioning coach: Prepares athletes for high performance, affording them the greatest advantage in competition.
  • Personal trainer: Advises clients on exercise, health, and wellness; develops and delivers individual training programs.
  • Sports/Esports coach: Provides expert training advice to athletes and analyzes their performance.
  • Community and allied health worker: Supports the work of allied health professionals such as physical therapists, occupational therapists and chiropractors.
  • Physical educator: Develops health and exercise lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives and facilitates classroom learning.
  • Sport/Esports development officer: Coordinates club and athlete participation in sports programs and improves the performance of individuals and teams.
  • Health promotion officer: Plans and coordinates health promotion programs.
  • Outdoor education and recreation instructor: Plans and coordinates outdoor group activities.
  • Researcher: Plans and conducts laboratory-based investigations, experiments and trials, and analyzes results to broaden scientific understanding.

KIN 440. Sport and Exercise Psychology. 3 Credits.

Examination of psychological constructs influencing sport performance and exercise behavior. S,SS.

KIN 402. Exercise Physiology. 3 Credits.

This course will examine the acute and chronic effect of the type, intensity and duration of exercise on physiological functions. Corequisite: KIN 402L. F.

KIN 404. Adapted Physical Activity. 3 Credits.

A study of the physical and motor characteristics and needs of persons with disabilities across the lifespan. Application focuses on planning and implementing physical education and activity programs in school and/or community settings. S,SS.

KIN 530. Sports Biomechanics. 3 Credits.

The application of principles of mechanics to the study of human motion. F, even years.

KIN 535. Applied Exercise Physiology. 3 Credits.

The focus of this course is on the planning, organization, and administration of gas-analyzed cardiorespiratory exercise testing. Prerequisite: KIN 402 or equivalent and consent of instructor. F, odd years.

EFR 515. Statistics I. 3 Credits.

An introduction to basic statistical methods, focusing primarily on descriptive statistics and inferential statistics up to and including two-way analysis of variance.
