What is a minor in college?

A minor is like a mini-major. Your major is your primary area of study and a minor allows you to pursue another discipline, add training that supports your major, or explore personal interests. A minor is noted on your official UND transcript and adds another layer of professional knowledge to your degree.

You do not have to have a minor in college, although certain majors may require a minor. Your minor must be combined with a major/degree program. Like majors, minors must be declared and have special requirements like mandatory classes.

Consult with your academic advisor if you are interested in adding a minor to your major. They will ensure you can fit a minor into your schedule without interfering with your major requirements.
