Sports Business Minor Requirements

Earn a minor in Sports Business by meeting these requirements.

Minor in Sport Business

The College of Business and Public Administration provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to earn a minor in sport business. Students receive a conceptual grounding in sport-specific business thought through coursework as well as experience in the sports field through internship opportunities. Students are encouraged to select a major which corresponds to a sport career choice of interest. Options are covered in the Introduction to Sport Business course requirement. Internship experiences also expose students to sport business career options and serve as a networking tool so vital in the sports industry. Students will be assisted in the identification of internship options; however, students are ultimately responsible for acquiring a meaningful internship position. Students may also be required to relocate for the duration of the internship.

The minor requires a minimum of 16 semester hours from the courses below.

What is a minor in college?

A minor is like a mini-major. Your major is your primary area of study and a minor allows you to pursue another discipline, add training that supports your major, or explore personal interests. A minor is noted on your official UND transcript and adds another layer of professional knowledge to your degree.

You do not have to have a minor in college, although certain majors may require a minor. Your minor must be combined with a major/degree program. Like majors, minors must be declared and have special requirements like mandatory classes.

Consult with your academic advisor if you are interested in adding a minor to your major. They will ensure you can fit a minor into your schedule without interfering with your major requirements.
