What is a minor in college?

A minor is like a mini-major. Your major is your primary area of study and a minor allows you to:

  • Pursue another discipline
  • Add training that supports your major
  • Explore personal interests

A minor is noted on your official UND transcript and adds another layer of professional knowledge to your degree.

Your minor must be combined with a major/degree program. Certain majors may require a minor. Minors are declared and have special requirements like mandatory classes.

Consult with your academic advisor if you are interested in adding a minor to your major. They will ensure you can fit a minor into your schedule without interfering with your major requirements.
