Adding a VoiceThread to Your Course
Linking to VoiceThread in Blackboard
The first step to using VoiceThread in your course is to add a link to a module, content
area, or page.
See the Accessing VoiceThread web page for more information.
Non-Graded VoiceThread Activities
Course View
This option displays the collection of VoiceThreads that have been shared with your course. Anything that has not yet been explicitly shared with your course will not appear here. This is a good option when you want students to view and comment on each other’s work or if you want to allow students to review all course materials prior to an exam. There is no grade associated with this option. It is for viewing and commenting only on multiple VoiceThreads in the course.
See the Course View help article for more information.
Individual VT
This option is the best way to create a VoiceThread discussion board or lecture about one specific VoiceThread. Students will not need to look through a collection of VoiceThreads to find the correct one; they will be taken straight to the presentation you wish for them to view. Choose the VoiceThread from the leftside menu and then Click on Share with Class. This will be the only VoiceThread they see. There is no grade associated with this option. It is for the purpose of viewing a single VoiceThread.
See the Individual VoiceThread help article for more information.
VT Home
This option displays all of a student’s VoiceThread content in a single view. This includes all VoiceThreads for all of a student’s courses that belong to them. This option is useful if you want to create a simple portal into VoiceThread without directing students to any specific content. There is no grade associated with this option.
See the VT Home help article for more information.
Graded VoiceThread Activities (Assignment Builder)
Create a VoiceThread Assignment
Requires your students to create a new VoiceThread to earn credit. If you choose this option, you will be prompted to enter a description for your assignment.
See the Setting up a Create-a-VoiceThread Assignment help article and video for more information.
Submit a Comment Assignment
Requires your students to submit a comment to an existing VoiceThread (of your choosing) to earn credit. If you choose this option, you will be prompted to choose an existing VoiceThread in your account.
See the Setting up a Commenting Assignment help article and video for more information.
Watch a VoiceThread Assignment
Requires your students to watch a VoiceThread of your choosing to earn credit. Comments are turned off for this option, making it ideal for narrated PowerPoints and other presentations. If you choose this option, you will be prompted to choose an existing VoiceThread in your account, or create a new one.
See the Setting up a Watch Assignment help article and video for more information.
