Certificate Requirements

The applicant must meet the School of Graduate Studies’ current minimum general admission requirements as published in the graduate catalog.

  1. A four-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university
  2. A minimum of 9 credits
  3. A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 for all undergraduate work or a GPA of at least 3.0 for the junior and senior years of undergraduate work (based on A = 4.00)
  4. Maintenance of at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA for all classes
  5. Satisfy the School of Graduate Studies’ English Language Proficiency requirements as published in the graduate catalog
  6. Successful completion of the program's capstone assessment/experience
  7. Successful completion of the program’s exit interview and/or exit survey

What is a graduate certificate?

A graduate certificate is a short series of graduate-level college courses that offer specialized training in a specific industry. UND offers graduate certificate programs focused on education, technology, business, and public administration. You must complete your bachelor’s degree before enrolling in a graduate certificate program.

Graduate certificate courses can sometimes be stacked to meet the requirements for a master’s degree. Reach out to the department for clarification prior to entering a graduate certificate program if your desire is to apply your graduate certificate credits to a master’s degree.
