Converting netCDF to geoTIFF using ArcGIS 10.5

ArcGIS is a program for working with maps and geographic data. It can handle netCDF data.

  1. Open ArcMAP and select the "Blank Map" template.***IMAGE REMOVED***
  2. At the top of the screen, click on the "Windows" tab and then click "Search".
  3. The search window will come up. In the search window click on "Tools" and type "netcdf to raster."***IMAGE REMOVED***
  4. Click on "Make NetCDF Raster Layer".
  5. The parameters window will open.***IMAGE REMOVED***
  6. Click on the folder icon next to "Input netCDF file" and navigate to the location where your netCDF file is located. The file extension will be either ".nc" or ".nc4" ***IMAGE REMOVED***
  7. Select your netCDF file an set the necessary parameters. ***IMAGE REMOVED***
  8. Click "OK" and ArcGIS will create the raster layer. This may take a minute depending on the hardware specifications of your computer. ***IMAGE REMOVED***
  9. To export the raster to geoTIFF, click on "File" then "Export Map".
  10. Select the location where you want the output file to be located and a name for the file.
  11. Select the TIFF output format. ***IMAGE REMOVED***
  12. Under the "Options" section, click the "Format" tab and check the "Write GeoTIFF Tags" box.***IMAGE REMOVED***
  13. Click "Save" and ArcGIS will create the geoTIFF file.***IMAGE REMOVED***
