The University of North Dakota Student Employment program provides part time job opportunities to student to help finance their educational needs along with providing work experience which allows students to explore career options, discover strengths, and see how academic learning applies to world of work.

Federal Work Study Employment
Federal Work Study Employment: Federal Work Study (FWS) is awarded through the UND Office of Student Finance. A work study award indicates that you are eligible to seek FWS employment; however, it is not a guarantee of a job.
Institutional Employment (Non-Work Study)
Institutional Employment: Any UND student can be employed as an Institutional (INST) student employee. Institutional employment is offered to students enrolled in at least one credit. It is not based on financial need.
Off-Campus Student Jobs and Internships
It is preferred that you work on campus while attending UND. Students who work on campus are shown to perform better in their classes, are more engaged in UND student life, and benefit from flexible work schedules. If you prefer to work off campus, check out the opportunities listed on Handshake.
International Student Employment
As an international student, you are not eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS), however, you can still work on-campus. For more information, please visit the International Student and Scholar Services website.

Recruitment Updates
Important Dates to Remember
- March 1: Summer recruiting in PageUp is available
- April 15: Last Day to advertise for a current spring/academic year position
- May 16: Last Day a student can work for the spring semester/academic year if your student is graduating in May. Terminate immediately
- June 1: Last day a department can do an FWS correction for the current fiscal year.
- June 15: First Day to advertise for the upcoming fall/academic year.
- July 1: Start of the Fiscal Year for FWS departmental allocations and last day to advertise for a summer position
- August 1: First day an Institutional student can work for the Fall Semester.
- August 8: Last day a student can work if they are not returning for Fall term or if they are a summer graduate. Terminate immediately
- August 16: First day a Federal Work Study funded student can work for the Fall Semester.
- November 1: Last Day to advertise for a current fall position. First Day to advertise for a spring position.
- December 19: Last day a student not returning in Spring due to graduation or non-enrollment can work. Terminate immediately.
- December 31: Departments with an FWS allocation, should show a utilization of 50% by the pay period ending on December 31.
