Ambassadors
Purpose
The purpose of Ambassadors Program is to create a partnership between the Office of Community & Belonging and the colleges/schools or divisions at UND. The Ambassadors will serve as liaisons between the Office of Community & Belonging, and the colleges/schools or divisions. In this position, utilizing a train the trainer model, the Ambassadors will:
- Participate in on-going internal and external equity and inclusion trainings as a means of growing their professional development and strengthening their overall skills.
- Train departments on implicit bias, methods for increasing diverse candidate pools, effective retention practices, and addressing microaggressive interactions.
- Serve as colleges/schools or divisions consultants on ways of infusing inclusive practices (in accordance with state and federal laws) in programming and other experiences.
- Collaborate with TTaDA to design trainings and other events.
Selection and Retention
Ambassadors are chosen by the college dean or division head, in consultation with the Office of Community & Belonging, and with approval from their chair/director/supervisor.
Ambassadors will serve in their role for two or three years depending on their agreement with their area. In order to maintain the continuity of the Program, colleges/schools or divisions should stagger the time periods that someone will serve in this role as to avoid all the Ambassadors cycling out of the Program at the same time.
Training

- General discussion on the inclusive practices (in accordance with state and federal laws)
- Addressing microaggressive interactions
- Commitment to eliminating discrimination and harassment
- Strategic planning
