Housing Improvement Project
Committed to providing quality facilities by making improvements that will enhance the on-campus living experience.
In order to make improvements, some residence halls will need to be completely knocked down and replaced with new facilities. Other buildings will be renovated to upgrade the plumbing, wiring, walls, and other core parts of the building.
The exact project scope has not yet been finalized, but this is the most up-to-date information as of September 28, 2022.
|Demolition & Replacement of McVey Hall||
|Demolition & Replacement of West Hall||
|Extensive Renovation of Brannon Hall||
|Courtyard & Walkway System Connecting to Wilkerson Commons||
Anticipated completion in Spring 2023.
|Pedestrian Bridge from Wilkerson Parking Lot Over English Coulee||
|Noren and Selke Safety Improvements||Planned for the near future.|
|Demolition of Bek Hall & Hancock Hall||To be completed Fall 2022.|
The renovation of Brannon Hall is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2022 for the opening of the hall for Fall 2022. McVey Hall is scheduled to be completed in early to mid-Fall 2022 after students complete Welcome Weekend Move-In. The new courtyard and walkway system connecting to Wilkerson Commons will not be completed until Spring 2023.
We know that students will be excited for the opportunity to live in McVey Hall, and the University would like students to experience McVey Hall as soon as they are able. With this, students who self-select Walsh Hall during the New Student Room Selection process will transition their room assignment to McVey Hall during the Fall 2022 semester and remain in McVey Hall for the Spring 2023 semester. Walsh Hall will be closed for the Spring 2023 semester.
UND Housing & Residence Life recognizes that a mid-year move could be stressful and challenging for students, and will offer the following accommodations to the impacted students.
