Summer Programs Guide
Amenities & Accomodations
Our on-campus housing provides safe, affordable, and accessible options for everyone. We have both double occupancy suites and single occupancy accommodations available.
Microfridges are available to rent for the duration of your stay. Each microfridge can be reserved in advance during your group information meetings. A microfridge is the only approved microwave appliance allowed in the residence hall rooms. If
you choose to forego a microfridge, a microwave is provided in the kitchenette space located on the ground floor of each
building.
Within your hall assignment, all common spaces and kitchens are open and available for your group to use. There is no reservation process, they are all first come first serve. Please keep in mind you might be sharing the hall with another group. Each group is responsible for keeping the lounge spaces neat, tidy and free of trash.
The Landing Zone located within Wilkerson Commons, is available for groups who need a larger open space than our residence hall common lounges. This space has the capability to stream and connect computers to our large TV screens. In addition to streaming, we have shuffleboard, an air hockey table and a foosball table to use.
Our most common selection amongst camps & conferences. These halls will feature suite-style rooms, with two rooms sharing a bathroom and shower area.
Some select rooms are ADA accessible single rooms with suite-style bathrooms. Not all single room assignments are ADA accessible. Please work with the Summer staff if there is a need for an accomodation.
Your Group Staff & Guests
We recommend packing:
- sheets
- pillows
- a blanket
- towels
- personal toiletries including shampoo, hand soap, phone and electronics chargers and change for vending machines
- anything you feel that will allow you to remain more comfortable, we recommend you bring along with you.
Our summer programs team will schedule information meetings with the group sponsor(s) prior to your arrival. At those meetings, you will have the opportunity to meet the staff who will be responsible
for the coordination of your group. We will discuss and confirm all of your camp/conference arrangements.
If space is available, unassigned rooms within the residence hall may be reserved
for special purposes such as a camp store, storage room, or camp office. Arrangements
for rooms designated for special use must be made 3 weeks in advance of the scheduled conference check-in date. We are not responsible for any items left in hallways, lounges, or common area spaces.
The UND Summer Program staff will manage the check-in and check-out process for your stay. We ask that camp or conference counselors and staff arrive before the participants to help ensure everyone's arrival is accounted for and to maintain the safety of all youth participants.
UND staff will issue a lanyard to each participant and their room key at the time of check-in.
- All of our summer assigned residence halls are air-conditioned and smoke free.
- Each hall office will be staffed nightly from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. to support your group. They can assist with lockouts and address any resident-related questions or concerns. For issues that arise after hours, our staff is also available on-call.
- Furniture may not be removed from residence hall rooms or lounge areas into individual rooms. Furniture must be in the same arrangement as provided and no adjustments should be made to the bed height. *Charges for damaged or missing furniture are billed at cost.
Alcohol
- The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in University residence halls and dining facilities. In addition, beverages that are sold as “imitation alcohol products” are not allowed. Students and guests are expected to abide by local ordinances and state laws regarding the consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages.
- It is a violation of residence hall policy to remain in a room where there is alcohol or other illegal drugs. Individuals in the presence of alcohol or other drugs may be subject to disciplinary procedures.
- Violation of this policy may result in removal from the residence halls. Non-college
students, who are minors (under the age of 21), found in situations with alcohol in
the residence halls are subject to arrest along with their hosts.
Drugs - The illegal possession of drug paraphernalia or use of compounds or synthetic compounds that produce hallucinations or illusions when introduced into the body, and all compounds covered under federal and state drug control laws, are not compatible with the University’s expectations for student responsibility. Therefore, they are not allowed in UND residence halls. Individuals who engage in such illegal acts are subject to disciplinary and/or legal action, including an immediate/temporary removal and ban from the residence halls and/or dining centers. Students receiving an immediate/temporary removal and ban will be asked to surrender their room key until their conduct proceedings have been completed. The temporary removal and ban may become permanent if the student is found responsible through the conduct hearing process. Documentation for suspicion of possession, consumption, or ingestion of these types of drugs, will lead to an investigative meeting followed by a hearing with a Student Conduct Administrator.
For security, all residence hall doors including the entrances and exits, must remain locked at all times. Under no circumstance will door propping be permitted. When meeting with the summer programs staff, please make sure you are coordinating sufficient building access needs to provide access during your stay.
Any items left in residence hall rooms once the group has been checked out will be collected and taken to the UND Housing & Residence Life Office for pickup. Lost and Found items must be claimed in person. Any items not picked up within 30 days will be discarded or donated.
No outside food or beverages may be brought into Wilkerson Dining Center. Our dining center can accommodate credit card as payment. We do not accept cash on campus as a form of payment.
Although Summer Programs will be your coordinator for all food services during your campus stay, please be aware that UND Dining Services will bill all food service charges.
For emergencies, please use the UND Police Department's 24-hour phone number: 701.777.3491. Make sure to share this number with group staff and chaperones. Remember, you can always call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance. If there's a facility or medical emergency, contact the Summer Programs on-call staff or the police directly, and we will ensure emergency services reach you quickly.
During check-in, you will receive the Summer Programs on-call number, which is available 24/7. If any medical injury occurs while you are here, please inform our staff so we can complete an incident report.
Although our staff are available on-call during your stay, we strongly encourage you to remain accessible to your group participants at all times. It’s important that no participants, especially youth, are left unsupervised without a chaperone or staff member, whether in the residence halls or around campus. If any participant is found without a chaperone, we will identify their group and reach out to the group sponsor.
