What you eat matters — and N&D 240 helps you understand how and why. This course presents the science behind nutrition and its impact on human health, focusing on major nutrients, food behavior, digestion, and disease prevention.
You’ll learn how to apply evidence-based nutrition principles to your own diet, while exploring broader topics like food safety, energy balance, non-nutrient components, and nutrition through the human lifespan.
This course fulfills a Math/Science/ Technology and Quantitative Reasoning Essential Studies requirement at UND and provides a strong foundation for students pursuing careers in nursing, public health, exercise science, education, or food and nutrition fields.

You'll complete 20 lessons, each with a lecture, guided readings, assessments, and reflection. You'll also complete 4 proctored exams via Honorlock and a nutrition study project analyzing your personal intake.
