Participant Engagement
Chat Feature | Breakout Groups | Polls
Chat Feature
The Chat feature allows you to send public or private messages, share files, and post links during a session, making it easy to collect questions, encourage interaction, and support real-time collaboration. With Chat, participants can message an individual, a small group, or everyone in the session.
Note: Chat permissions are controlled by the moderator. Moderators can choose whether participants are allowed to chat privately; they can also monitor all private messages, even if they are not part of the conversation.
Breakout Groups
Breakout groups allow you (the moderator) to split a Class for Web session into smaller, isolated sessions—ideal for small group collaboration and discussions. Because breakout groups are designed for collaboration, all attendees are automatically assigned the Presenter role, which allows them to share whiteboards, files, and applications within their group.
As the moderator, you can move between groups at any time. If an attendee needs to be moved to a different group, you must approve and manage that change.
Polls
Polling is a simple way to engage students and encourage active participation during a live session. Polls can be used to gather feedback, check understanding, or collect opinions using Yes/No and multiple-choice questions.
With polls, attendees respond by selecting from predefined answer options. As the moderator, you control the question type, the number of response choices, and whether poll results are shared with participants.
For step-by-step guidance and additional details about creating and launching polls, see the Polling in Class for Web help article.
