  • Grants - need-based awards that don't have to be repaid

Cost Benefits for Military-Affiliated Students

More than 1,800 students at UND use military benefits. We honor your dedication by offering a range of financial benefits designed to make your education more affordable.

  • Affordable In-State Tuition for all Military Affiliates: Regardless of your state of legal residency, as an active-duty service member, veteran, National Guard or Reserve member, dependent, or contracted ROTC cadet, you're eligible for North Dakota resident tuition rates for all on-campus programs.
  • Active-Duty Tuition Rate: If you're an active-duty undergraduate student using Federal Tuition Assistance, you can benefit from a reduced tuition rate of $250 per credit (This does not include Aerospace. See cost details.)
  • VA Education Benefits: You may be eligible to receive funds for tuition and fees, books, flight programs, housing, and more through various VA education benefits. 
  • Scholarships for Military-Affiliated Students: UND offers scholarships specifically for active U.S. military service members, veterans, and their dependents.
  • Yellow Ribbon Program Participant: Participation in this program is part of UND’s larger mission to honor and assist military-affiliated students in achieving their educational and professional goals.

Nursing Scholarships

UND offers admitted students 975+ scholarships with one application. Many UND scholarships are specifically for future nurses. Additionally, check with professional nursing associations, local community organizations, and healthcare facilities for nursing scholarships.

North Dakota Nursing Education Loan (NEL) Program

The NEL Program is for North Dakota students enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral nursing programs.
