It's our priority to help students afford UND.

Types of Financial Aid
Financial aid is a broad term that represents any financial assistance you receive to help pay for your education. There are several types of financial aid. You'll need to repay some types, while others are gifts that don't require you to pay them back.
The most common types of financial aid are:
Apply for Financial Aid
The only way to know if you're eligible to receive financial aid — and the amount you may receive — is by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA is the only application UND requires to determine your eligibility for federal and North Dakota state financial aid programs.
If you haven’t yet completed the FAFSA, go to studentaid.gov. UND’s school code is 003005. The FAFSA takes about 30 minutes to complete and about seven business days for the information to get to UND.
The priority deadline is February 1 for the fall semester.
Funding is limited and not guaranteed. Submitting your FAFSA early gives you a better chance to receive an award from programs with limited funds, such as Federal Work Study or grants. It's important to submit your FAFSA by the priority deadline so that you don't lose out on potential funding, such as federal-based or institutional aid.
How much financial aid will I get?
The aid you’re eligible to receive is determined from the financial information you provide in your FAFSA and the cost to attend UND.
Information from the FAFSA also is used to award aid from sources other than the U.S. federal government. The calculation used to determine what aid you’re eligible for includes more than just income from you and your family — don’t assume you won’t be eligible for aid! Most people qualify for some type of aid, including low-interest federal student loans.
Use the Financial Aid Guide to ensure that your financial aid will be applied to your bill. These steps also will help you determine how much you may owe (if anything) at the start of the semester and what options you have to help cover those costs.Und financial aid guide
