Welcome Weekend Move-In
Most students will move into the residence halls during Welcome Weekend.
Move In Options
Welcome Weekend Move-In will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
All students will check in at the tents set up in the Wellness Center parking lot where Housing & Residence Life staff will be distributing keys and other relevant information.
Sign Up for a Move-In Time
All students will need to sign up for a move-in time to help the campus manage traffic and limit congestion. The sign-up form will be available online in Housing Self Service starting July 10 at 10 a.m.
Please arrive on campus to check in at the time you signed up for.
Arriving to UND: Where To Go
Review the 2024 Move-In Stop Drop & Go Map for directions on how to arrive at campus for check-in, and how to proceed to your hall Stop Drop & Go zone.
- All students will need to arrive at the Wellness Center parking lot by Columbia Road or Gateway Drive.
- You will receive your key and further instructions for the Stop Drop & Go zones.
Complete Room Inventory and Condition by Sept. 8
We do our best to maintain our facilities, but we know they're not perfect. Please take some time to review and report the Room Inventory and Condition so that way we know if there are any issues in your room. Please be sure you complete this by September 8. Ask your RA if you have questions.
- Claim your Roompact account through the email you received. Please know that you won't be able to claim your account until after August 24, 2024.
- Complete your Room Inventory and Condition at Roompact.
Unpack and Get Settled
Now is the time you've been waiting for: decorating and unpacking! Be sure you have reviewed the packing guidelines on what you should and should not bring to campus.

Drop & Dash will be available starting in early August 12 – August 20, 2024. Sign up for a Drop & Dash time beginning July 10 at 10 a.m.
Skip the Stop, Drop & Go lines and help reduce congestion on opening weekend! If you would like to skip the Stop, Drop & Go lines and help reduce congestion on opening weekend, we're offering Drop & Dash a program that offers the opportunity to drop your belongings off early and return during the welcome weekend to live in your room. Rates are charged PER DAY at $12.00.Drop & Dash is not available for Brannon Hall and University Place residents due to these buildings being reserved for summer housing.
Sign Up For A Time Slot
- Sign up for a Drop & Dash time starting July 10, 2024 at 10 a.m. based on the hall that you will live in. The form will be available in Housing Self Service.
- There is a daily fee of $12.00 for each day before the official move-in day August 24, 2024.
- Drop & Dash is available from August 12 until August 20, 2024.
- Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Where To Go When You Arrive
When you arrive at the UND campus to check in, go directly to the Housing & Residence Life Office at 525 Stanford Rd, Grand Forks, ND 58202. You will receive your key and further instructions on how to proceed to your hall.
Unloading Your Items
- Volunteers, carts, or dollies will not be available to help with the process.
- Please note that all furniture must stay in the room.
- Parking guidelines will still be in place. Please don't park in marked spots or no parking zones. Parking will be available without a permit in residence hall parking lots.
Return Your Key
When you are done dropping off your items, the keys must be returned to the Housing & Residence Life Office by 6 p.m. on the date of Drop & Dash or you will be charged early move-in fees.
Welcome Weekend Check-In
Students who choose early drop-off will return to campus and officially check in on Welcome Weekend at the Wellness Center parking lot. This is when students will receive their keys for their room and additional move-in details. Early drop-off students are asked to arrive in the Drop & Dash lane at the Wellness Center parking lot for check-in during the following times:
- Saturday, August 24, 2024: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Dates and times above are subject to change.
If you will be unable to arrive by the first day of classes on August 26, please notify the Housing & Residence Life Office by emailing housing@UND.edu when you intend to check in.
Failure to claim your room assignment does not automatically cancel your agreement.
Reserved for students affiliated with a University-sponsored activity that require them to live on campus before August 24, 2024.
- As a general rule, students are not allowed to live in the residence halls before the official opening dates in the fall unless the student is affiliated with a University-sponsored activity.
- Requests for an early move-in will be coordinated through the appropriate University sponsor.
