Follow these steps if you're not moving in during Welcome Weekend.
Student will receive information about moving in via email. Check your email for moving information, including what your room assignment is in, and where you need to go to pick up your keys.
Complete Room Inventory and Condition
We do our best to maintain our facilities, but we know they're not perfect. Please take some time to review and report the Room Inventory and Condition so that way we know if there are any issues in your room. Please be sure you complete this within 2 weeks of moving in. Ask the hall staff if you have questions.
- Claim your Roompact account through the email you received. Please know that you won't be able to claim your account until you've officially checked in to Housing.
- Complete your Room Inventory and Condition at Roompact.
Unpack and Get Settled
Now is the time you've been waiting for: decorating and unpacking!

2. Get to know your roommate and fill out Housing Agreement
- Meet your roommates and begin your Roommate Agreement at Roompact.
- Roommate Agreements are due within 2 weeks of moving in.
3. Understand your keys
- Keys with a number only will give you access to your assigned suite door and room door.
- If you lock your key in your room or it is lost, go to Wilkerson Service Center with your ID for a temporary passkey.
4. Sign Wellness Center waiver
All students must sign the Wellness Center waiver which is available from the UND Wellness App or Registration Portal.

5. Get to know your building
- Attend your first community gathering. Look for signs around the hall for time and location.
- Find your RA on Duty number at the Hall Office to know who can assist in the evenings and on weekends.
- Find these places:
- Laundry room
- Kitchenette and/or microwave stations
- Your RA's room
- Trash room
- Hall Office
6. Check out campus services
- Wilkerson Commons Service Center
- Pick up packages
- Get help with electronic door access
- Check out a pass-key if you're locked out of your room
- Internet
- Get your computer connected to the campus internet, ResNet can help if you have problems.
- Call 701.777.3424 or visit the ResNet office is located in Wilkerson Commons.
- Additional tech support can be found at the Chester Fritz Library.
- Mail and Packages
- Find your mailing address, mailbox location, and package information!
- Dining Services offers a wide variety of places you can eat on campus – regular hours start with Monday breakfast.
- Become familiar with campus and housing policies.
- Review the Code of Student Life.

- Find the closest Bus Stop to easily get around campus.
- Find your class buildings.

Get involved in one of the student leadership opportunities in Housing & Residence Life! Association of Residence Halls is the overall governing body that ties together and organizes UND’s residence hall community. The ARH office is located in Wilkerson Commons. To voice concerns or suggestions, ARH encourages residents to speak with hall government members, hall staff, or email housing@UND.edu.

Move-Out Checklist
When your scheduled check-out time arrives, all of your belongings must be out of your room. Your area should be clean and in the same set-up arrangements as to when you moved in. When you check out with your RA, please make sure you have taken care of the following items:
- Thoroughly clean the room.
- Deloft beds and set up all furniture. Bed rails and ladders must remain in your room.
- If you rented a MicroFridge, see below for specific steps.
- Turn off the room and suite lights.
- Lock the door and turn room keys into hall staff.
- The check-out process has been properly completed.
- Inform RA of any needed repairs in the room.
- Update your forwarding address for mail.
Clean Your Room
Thoroughly clean room. Cleanliness is the absence of dirt, including dust, stains, bad smells, and garbage. Room cleanliness upon checkout includes, but is not limited to:
- All room surfaces wiped down. The floor is swept and mopped (or vacuumed if applicable).
- The wardrobe, dresser, and desk are emptied and wiped down.
- Room door, ceilings, and walls are free of tacks, tape, adhesive strips, decorations.
- Bunked beds are taken down and set to the correct height. The mattress is wiped down.
- The room window has the screen in place, is free of stickers, smudges, cobwebs, etc, and is closed and locked. Leave blinds open.
- All furniture is clean and in the condition that was noted upon check-in. Discrepancies may result in fees being assessed.
- Trash and recycling bins have been emptied and thoroughly cleaned and trash taken
to the outside dumpster.
- Larger items like non-university furniture, fridges, chairs, large rugs, etc. should be placed next to the dumpster.
- Consider donating or selling items instead of throwing them away.
- If applicable, defrost, empty, and wipe out MicroFridge.
Move-Out Tips
MicroFridge Returns
Ensure the steps below are completed to avoid the $35 cleaning charge:
- Please ensure you have completely defrosted the MicroFridge before moving out. This means the fridge should be unplugged 48 hours before leaving.
- Completely clean and dry, including seals and both the inside and outside surfaces of the refrigerator, fridge, and freezer
- Ensure all parts are included: top and bottom shelf, microwave plate and ring.
- Leave the MicroFridge in your room with refrigerator and freezer doors open.
Garbage
Trash bags may be obtained from your RA. All trash is to be taken to the outside dumpsters. Place furniture and other large objects you are going to throw away beside the dumpster.
Bikes
If you have a bike chained to a bike rack, don't forget to take it with you. Bikes left after the end of the academic year will be removed by the University.
During the summer months, all mail received by the Housing & Residence Life Office is forwarded to the Forwarding Address indicated in your under Personal Information>Addresses.
To receive your mail faster, please:
- Change the address of all your magazines and newspapers before you leave school for the summer. Non-1st class mail will not be forwarded.
- Notify friends and family of your new summer address and when the address will be in effect.
- Go to your Campus Connection, then click on profile, then addresses. Change your mailing address to where you want to receive mail. This change occurs immediately.
- If you are attending summer school, please notify family, friends, and all business contacts that all correspondence should be updated with your new address.

Term-Specific FAQs
Do I return my bed rails and ladders on reading and review day?
Bed rails remain in your room. Ladders should be moved to a designated room per hall closing meeting instructions.
The signs say I have to check-out within 24 hours of my last final. What if I am graduating, a marshal, or in the band and have to stay until Sunday?
Sign up for Late Departure on Housing Self Service. All check-outs need to be completed by 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
What if my best friend graduates on Sunday? Can I stay until then?
Yes, sign up for Late Departure on Housing Self Service. All check-outs will be completed by 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025. If you’re staying for Summer 2025 as a resident, you will also need to apply for housing through the Housing Self Service.
What if my parents cannot come until after 7:00 pm on Friday?
Sign up for Late Departure on Housing Self Service. All check-outs will be completed by 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
What do I do with garbage and boxes I don’t want?
Take them outside to the dumpster. The trash rooms are closed starting R & R Day (5/9/2025) in order to prevent overflow.
When do I have to check-out?
No later than Friday, May 16, 2025 by 7 p.m. unless approved otherwise by your Resident Director.
When does the summer housing contract start?
Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 1 p.m.
When does summer school start?
Monday, May 19, 2025.
When do 24 hour quiet hours start and end?
10 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025.
What halls are open for summer school?
