Food Resources for Students

It’s hard to be academically successful when you are hungry. We have food resources to help.

Contribute to the Food Pantry

Food for Thought Food Pantry

All current UND students are welcome to visit our new Food for Thought Food Pantry, located on the first floor of Wilkerson Commons in Room 169. Food For Thought provides nonperishable food items and personal hygiene products to students in need.

Food Pantry Hours

During the time of remote instruction, students wishing to access the Food Pantry should call 701.777.4200 to make arrangements.

If you have questions or would like to access Food for Thought at a time not listed above, please call 701.777.4200. Contact the Student Involvement Office at 701.777.4200 for more information.

Swipe it Forward

Food security on campuses is a growing concern nationwide. Various studies have shown upwards to 48 % of students in the U.S experience some level of food insecurity, with 22% experiencing high levels of food insecurity. University of North Dakota students are not exempt from food security concerns.

To address campus food insecurity, the University of North Dakota has implemented the Swipe it Forward meal donation program. Students with a current UND meal plan can donate a portion of their unused guest meals or dining dollars to help hungry classmates.

How can I Swipe it Forward?

  1. Log into your Housing Self Service.
  2. At the top of the Housing Self-Service page, select "Application and Forms." In the drop down menu select the application Dining Plan – Swipe It Forward
  3. You will be asked to enter information about the amount of Dining Dollars and/or Guest Meals you would like to donate.

How do I access donated meals?

Students in need can contact the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at 701.777.2664 or McCannel Hall, Room 280 to get meal passes for use in UND dining centers.

Christus Rex, a Lutheran Campus Center, may also provide food to those in need.
