Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Property
- The Memorial Union is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property of building users.
- MU staff recommends that personal items are not left unattended in unsecured event spaces or other public retail or common spaces.
- The MU Information Desk, Room 105 receives, collects and temporarily stores lost and found items. Depending on available information at the time of receipt or collection, items will be returned to the owner.
- Items of high value or those containing sensitive personal information are transferred to the University Police Department (UPD) if it is not feasible to return to the owner.
- U Cards are transferred to the U Card Office, Room 304 within the One-Stop Services Suite 300 during business hours.
Games Area Equipment Checkout
Equipment can be checked out free of charge with a student or personal ID that will be returned once equipment is checked back in at the desk.
Personal Recreational Transport Equipment
- Bicycles and scooters may only be parked outdoors in designated racks located within the exterior perimeter of the Memorial Union.
- Personal recreational transport equipment may not obstruct or be attached to structures other than a bicycle rack (e.g., walkways, railings, doorways, light poles, flag poles, garbage cans, pergolas, patio furniture, bollards, signs, trees, or ramps).
- Bicycles, scooters, roller skates, skateboards, hover boards, roller blades, or other personal recreational transport equipment may not be ridden or used within indoor spaces of the Memorial Union.
- Bicycles, scooters or other personal recreational transport equipment considered a public safety hazard may be removed and impounded by UND Public Safety or Facilities Management without notice and at their owners' risk and expense. Improperly parked or secured bicycles may be removed and impounded. Owners will be assessed a fee to retrieve their bicycle.

Flatbed Carts
Carts for transporting items or equipment can be requested free of charge at the Information Desk for use within the building.
Cities Area Transit (CAT) Bus Display
- The display within the first floor North Tower Corridor is managed remotely by Grand Forks Cities Area Transit.
- CAT bus information is also accessible through the CAT Prowler Mobile Application. Download the app in Google Play or iOS App to plan trips, track buses, and stay up to date on travel alerts.

Digital Display Monitors
Social Stair Programming Venue Video Board
- The video board is managed onsite by Memorial Union staff for scheduled special events.

Building-Wide Landscape Marketing Displays
- Electronic digital displays for marketing communications are located on each level of the MU and are managed onsite by Memorial Union staff.

Event Schedule Displays
Electronic digital displays that provide daily MU scheduled event information are located on each level of the MU and are managed onsite by Memorial Union staff.
Social Media Feed
Content is fed though a social media aggregator and broadcast on three displays located on the first floor behind the grand staircase. Use #UNDproud on Facebook, Instagram, or X to see your content on the social stair board.
Hearing Loop system
- This system allows visitors with hearing aids to connect directly with the room's active sound system, removing background noise that usually comes with hearing aid use. A patterned wire in the floor allows access anywhere in the space. Switch your hearing device to T-coil mode to activate.
- Portable units with earpieces are available for free at the information desk.
Solicitation
The Memorial Union follows the Solicitation Policy outlined in Part IV, Section B of the Code of Student Life:
- Solicitation is to include the sale or offer for sale of any property or service and/or receipt of or request for any gift or contribution.
- No solicitation may be conducted in any building or structure on the campus of the
University except by the agents or employees of the University acting in the course
and scope of their agency or employment, or by recognized student organizations or
renters of space within the Memorial Union. Solicitors' actions must be in accordance
with this section and University policy.
- In the case of the Memorial Union, the director of the Memorial Union or designee may permit on- or off-campus persons, groups or organizations to reserve, lease, and/or use portions of the building for the purpose of selling products and/or services to the campus community.
- In the case of requested solicitation outside of the Memorial Union, please refer to the Events, Demonstrations, Fixed Exhibits and Short-Term Rentals process.
- Solicitation must be conducted in a way that:
- Is in keeping with the educational mission of the University and complies with other policies and procedures contained in the Code.
- Will not disturb or interfere with the regular academic or institutional programs or other programs being conducted on the campus.
- Will not interfere with the free and unimpeded flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic on sidewalks, streets, or within buildings.
- Will not impede entrance to or egress from campus buildings, or into, from, or through common areas of campus buildings.
- Will not harass, embarrass, or intimidate the person or persons being solicited.
- Will create no conflict with contractual obligations of the University.
- When in the Memorial Union, the sale or distribution of food items will comply with Memorial Union facility use policies.
- Off-campus persons, groups, or organizations not affiliated with the University must be properly licensed to sell the products and/or services being offered.
- Conforms to all applicable state and federal laws and city ordinances, including those related to charitable gaming (raffles, etc.) when applicable.
- Recognized student organizations may collect membership fees or dues or conduct other solicitation defined in this section at activities of such organizations scheduled in accordance with the facilities-use regulations outlined in this section.
- Admission fees may be collected for an exhibition, movie, or other program that is sponsored by the University, a recognized faculty group, or a recognized student organization and that is scheduled in accordance with the facilities-use regulations in this section.
- Regulations for sales:
- All activities involving University funds or services are subject to University and state audit and may be subject to city and/or state sales tax.
- Cash boxes may be checked out from the Student Involvement Center.
