Becoming a Certified Dietary Manager

Earning Your CDM, CFPP
If you are already working in food service management, you may wonder why you should earn the Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) credential.
The answer is simple. Those with the nationally recognized CDM, CFPP credential are in high demand due to regulatory requirements. Plus, those with the CDM, CFPP credential earn more money than dietary managers who are not certified. According to the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP), salaries vary by region, but the national average is more than $58,180 as of November, 2022.

Meeting the Course Participation Requirements
In order to enroll in the Nutrition & Foodservice Professional Training Program, you must:
- be currently employed (at least part-time) as an food service employee in an institutional
foodservice facility, OR you must arrange for 150 hours of field experience in an
institutional foodservice facility, with a minimum of 50 hours in a healthcare facility
- UND does not arrange for field experience sites, or enter into contracts with field experience facilities
- be a high school graduate, have a GED certificate, or a letter of endorsement from your supervisor and administrator
- be endorsed by the administrator of the facility and the registered dietitian who will act as your preceptor, and receive preceptor materials online
- have access to and check your email frequently
