About online SPAN 101: First Year Spanish I
Spanish 101 and 102 prepare students to achieve basic proficiency in the language and understanding of Hispanic cultures. Spanish 101 begins this process of building and developing the new language system by engaging students in learning activities that address listening, reading, writing and speaking through independent study. This course is designed to maximize your language-learning potential. To be successful (which means learning to use Spanish meaningfully in practical situations), you will need to stay motivated and practice regularly each week. Time, dedication, and personal discipline are essential to take advantage of this online opportunity to learn to understand and speak Spanish.

This course contains six lessons, two speaking exams with the instructor, and two written proctored exams. Each is designed to focus your study of Spanish and to assist you in achieving the course learning objectives or outcomes. How will the course appear on my transcript?
You may enroll at any time and have up to 9 months to complete this online course. The credits earned will be recorded on your UND transcript based on the date you registered for the course. It will appear on your transcript in the same way as a course taken during a regular semester. There is no indication that the course was taken online or that you completed it at your own pace.
