What will I learn in the Introduction to Geology Lab online course?
Most Geology 101 lab courses engage students with actually hand specimens of minerals and rocks. Since the onset of online labs where students can’t share the specimen kits, the world’s supply of teaching specimens has dwindled to the point where it is difficult for suppliers to provide good specimens or in some cases even any specimen at all. This course includes a comprehensive suite of videos of specimens and their properties, which means students do not have to purchase a sample kit. This video format can be effective for your learning of minerals and rocks and how to identify them by name.
You will have 3 to 9 months to complete this course, which has 11 lessons and no exams.
- Lab 1. Minerals
- Lab 2. Igneous rocks

You may have used a different text in your Geology course, and normally that should be acceptable for what you'll encounter in these lab lessons.
