About the Poolman Leadership Academy
The Poolman Leadership Academy was started in 2015 through a generous donation from Jim and Nicole Poolman. Jim and Nicole held various leadership positions both at UND and after their graduation, and they wanted to help emerging leaders understand and learn about leadership so that they can better serve UND and their communities.
The program is available during the fall and spring semesters and is for students seeking to expand their understanding of leadership and understanding their individual leadership strengths. The Academy will explore various leadership theories, as well as address components of leadership such as values, ethics, collaboration, etc.
Educate
Expand personal and interpersonal leadership skills and knowledge. The Poolman Leadership Academy contains six, one-hour sessions. The sessions are conducted in-person, and participants must attend all of the sessions in order to receive completion from the program.
Enrich
Create a lasting impact during your campus experience. Participants attend a variety of campus and community events focusing on development (seminars, conferences, etc.).
Engage
Build relationships on campus and within the community. To complete the program, participants must actively participate in at least one student organization. They will also complete a number of volunteer service hours.
