Death Investigation Training Bundle
The Death Investigation Training Bundle course encompasses all six of the individual Death Investigation courses available though the University of North Dakota. The Basics of Death Investigation module completely covers the NIJ Publication “Death Investigation: A field guide for the scene investigator”. Each of the 29 principles is reviewed completely with images, model forms, or videos for appropriate points. The Cultural Competency module addresses issues and concepts in cross cultural competency and how it affects and is applied to death investigations. Individuals from various cultures provide video addressing their culture and expectations in death investigations. Mental Health Issues for Death Investigators reviews major mental health disorders and conditions, identifies challenges and situations where mental disorders are a component of death investigation and identifies critical incidents and stresses which may affect first responders and death investigators. The Terminology & Diseases module provides lay death investigators with basics of medical terminology, common diseases producing death and common medications to assist the death investigator in interpreting medical history and death scenes where natural disease may cause or contribute to death. Advanced Topics in Death Investigation covers several specialized and advanced topics in death investigation. Finally, Forensic Pathology covers major types of traumatic deaths in forensic pathology, relating these to death investigation.
