Writing Center
The Writing Center is a place for students, faculty, and staff to discuss their work in progress with a writing consultant.
The Writing Center is open to any current UND undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff. We work with on-campus, distance and online programs. We also work with any major or field. The Writing Center is free to use.
Make an Appointment
We work with writers in collaborative appointments focused on developing writing skills through conversation and peer feedback.
Writing Center Services
Writing Center appointments are collaborative sessions in which we can help you with your writing projects. We cannot write your paper for you, but we can help you identify revision strategies and connect you with other writing resources.
We work with writers of diverse backgrounds, so we work with many different types of writing projects. Some common projects we see in the Writing Center are:
- Class assignments (such as an ENGL 110 paper)
- Resumes and CVs
- Job/school/scholarship application essays
- Graduate theses and doctoral dissertations
- Creative writing projects, like stories
Writing Center Mission
The mission of the Writing Center is to serve as a resource on writing for the university community. We help people as they seek to improve their writing by offering positive, constructive responses to their work in any genre or discipline and at any stage of the writing process. We believe that the development of writing abilities is a life-long process, and that writing is a skill and art that enables people to create and communicate ideas.
