North Dakota Foster Care and Adoption
Recruitment and Retention
The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (NDDHHS) Children and Family Services Division works closely with UND Children and Family Services Training Center (CFSTC) as the contracted vendor for statewide Recruitment and Retention in North Dakota. CFSTC accepts inquiries, discusses options with prospective families, and also support statewide recruitment and retention efforts through the regional Coalitions.
Inquiry Response and Reporting
In April 2020, North Dakota transitioned to a statewide clearinghouse model to respond to foster and/or adopt inquiries through CFSTC. The Recruitment & Retention Specialist with CFSTC responds to inquiries interested in becoming a foster care provider or adoption option. Based on their interest, the Recruitment & Retention Specialist refers individuals/families on to the agency or agencies whom they would like to explore further. CFSTC has implemented an inquiry intake process for data tracking purposes.
Foster/Adopt Inquiry Intake Process
The online inquiry intake form is completed by licensors for all inquiries they receive directly through their agency. All inquiries are to be submitted at quarter’s end, and no later than January 5, April 5, July 5, and October 5 to assure accurate data tracking and reporting.
This form, along with detailed instructions, can be found by clicking the link below.
