About Us

We work in partnership with students, faculty, and staff to facilitate disability accommodations, promote an inclusive campus learning environment, and encourage student independence.

At Student Disability Resources, we ensure opportunity in all aspects of campus life at UND. Our goal is to remove barriers, provide appropriate accommodations, and support students in navigating their academic environment independently.

We serve all students—including on-campus, online, undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs—through a confidential, interactive process to determine eligibility for accommodations and provide access support.

What We Do

  • Review documentation to determine eligibility for academic, housing, dining, facilities, and assistance animal accommodations
  • Work with students to identify functional barriers and recommend reasonable accommodations
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with faculty and staff regarding access

Temporary or Short-Term Conditions

Most short-term illnesses and temporary medical conditions, such as broken bones, surgeries with extended recovery, or concussions, are not accommodated through our office. Students should coordinate directly with instructors regarding class absences.

Report Access Barriers

Everyone is encouraged to report barriers on campus (e.g., blocked entrances, broken elevators). Contact Facilities at 701.777.2591 to report an issue.

  • What’s one campus spot you recommend everyone visit at least once?

Take a trip to the Elwyn B. Robinson Department of Special Collections at the Chester Fritz Library (4th floor). So many amazing artifacts and unique collections to explore!

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to students starting at UND?

College is a marathon, not a sprint. You don’t have to do everything in one semester. Choose one or two co-curricular/extra-curricular opportunities and pace yourself. Don’t forget to focus on your academics—it’s why you’re here!

What’s your favorite way to start the day?

Snuggle with my little dog, Violet. She’s the sweetest cuddle bug and is so enthusiastic to get up in the morning, her attitude is contagious!

  • What do you enjoy most about working with students at UND?

Having the opportunity to make a positive impact on their academic experience. Every student’s journey is unique, and it’s incredibly rewarding supporting students and seeing them reach their goals!

What’s your favorite way to spend a North Dakota snow day?

I love staying in with a warm blanket, hot coffee, and watching my favorite movies.

What’s your favorite season on campus and why?

Summer -the slower pace and quiet atmosphere make it feel calm and peaceful. It’s a great time to reset, plan for the upcoming academic year, and enjoy the warm weather.

  • What’s one piece of advice you’d give to students starting at UND?

Ask questions, get involved, and connect with people! Relationships make all the difference.

What’s your favorite season on campus and why?

Spring! Campus seems to come alive with trees, flowers, and bright colors, and there’s a fresh, energetic feel all around.

What’s your favorite movie, TV show or book?

Grey’s Anatomy! Especially the first few seasons. I love Meredith, George, Izzie, Alex, and Cristina, and the mix of drama and humor in their stories.

  • What’s one piece of advice you’d give to students starting at UND?

Put yourself out there! You never know what opportunities may come of introducing yourself and engaging with others.

What UND tradition or event do you look forward to each year?

The French fry feed and the Potato Bowl football game!

Where do you go when you need to recharge or think?

If I need to recharge, hot yoga or Pilates is the place I do it best.
