Why Take the Discrete Mathematics Online Course?

MATH 208 introduces the essential mathematical structures and techniques used in computer science and higher-level mathematics. Unlike algebra or calculus, discrete mathematics emphasizes conceptual understanding, logical structure, and proof construction — especially inductive reasoning, which is central to programming and algorithm design.

This course is ideal for students who need a theoretical foundation in mathematics for careers in software development, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, or applied mathematics.

Discrete Mathematics Online Course Requirements

The Discrete Mathematics course uses a free downloadable textbook provided by the UND Mathematics department. You will be required to set up a side-angle camera for the proctored exams. There are apps available that would allow you to convert your phone into a webcam, but we recommend purchasing an inexpensive, separate webcam with a long USB cable for the exams.

How will the course appear on my transcript?
