Additional Event Planning Resources
Depending on the event, additional campus policies may apply and/or additional documentation may be requested by the UND Safety Office. Event coordinators are responsible for being aware of the policies and guidelines that impact their events.
Depending on the event, additional campus services may be needed. Event coordinators are encouraged to arrange for services as far in advance as possible.
Events held on campus with food costs that exceed $500, must make food service arrangements with Campus Catering.
Promotional materials should be ready for distribution at least one month prior to the event. Utilize campus resources and word-of-mouth promotion to create a buzz about the event.
- Marketing Tools
- Create an event on your student organization site: Involvement.UND.edu
- University Letter
- Memorial Union Vendor Table Reservations
- Wilkerson Commons Table Reservations
The following are points to consider to enhance events:
- Consider if there are other student organizations or departments who may be interested in collaborating or co-sponsoring your event.
- Send invitations to the individuals and groups you would like to attend the event. Don’t assume people will know they are invited if you don’t take the time to invite them.
- Develop a “run down” for the event to ensure that everyone involved in executing the event is aware of the plan.
- Coordinate with the Student Involvement & Parent Programs Office to log attendance.
- Consider the image and feeling you want participants to experience when they attend the event and prepare appropriately with greeters, nametags, a check-in table, lighting, table clothes, etc.
- Facilitate sound checks prior to the start of the event with speakers using microphones.
- Send thank you messages to the individuals/groups who assisted in making the event a success.
