Inspiring high school students to aim higher.
Upward Bound focuses on improving high school students' academic performance so they may graduate high school, successfully enroll in college and complete a college degree. Once students reach high school, it's necessary for them to start preparing for the future. The Upward Bound Program encourages these students to continue their education and provides them with the skills and resources needed to succeed in high school and college.
Throughout its 43 year history at UND, Upward Bound has served approximately 3,300 students. Former students from the Upward Bound Program continue to support the program through membership in the UND TRIO Alumni Society, mentoring current students and advocating nationally for the program.
What Makes Upward Bound Unique?
No other program in the area provides such comprehensive services to target high school students. Upward Bound recognizes that every student is unique and uses an individualized approach in working with them.
The commitment from the program is a lengthy one, starting at the time the student enters the program throughout high school. The program's advisors work with students in small groups and privately to address their individual needs. In addition, they help students to develop their academic potential, learn from others and their cultures, and identify and meet realistic goals. Cultural and educational events are held to expose the students to new and different positive experiences.
