UND Study Abroad Application Steps
Applications are available 2-3 months prior to the application deadline.
1. Open Your Application
- Applications are tied to Program Pages in your Study Abroad Profile.
- To access the application, log in to your Study Abroad Profile, use the Programs menu to filter or My Programs tab to find your favorited program, and click Apply Now. You can save your progress and continue to work on your application later through the Applications tab on your Profile dashboard.
- Students are eligible to submit a maximum of two applications per term.
For more details, refer to the steps to study abroad.
2. Submit Application Materials
The following materials need to be submitted before your UND application is reviewed:
Unofficial Transcript
Free to download through Campus Connection.
Academic Advisor Endorsement
Request an endorsement for study abroad from your Academic Advisor within the application portal. The endorsement is not a recommendation, rather a confirmation that the applicant has discussed their study abroad plans with their Advisor.
Two Short-response Questions
- What are three goals you have for studying abroad? List one academic, one personal, and one professional.
- Studying abroad is often challenging, requiring participants to be open-minded and persevere in sometimes isolating circumstances. Please describe a personal experience in which you were similarly challenged to demonstrate these qualities. Your response should be approximately 300-400 words.
Read & Acknowledge Signature Documents
For more information or to receive a copy of the signature documents, contact your Study Abroad Advisor.
Academic and demographic information included in your application will automatically pull in from UND Campus Connection.
Application Deadlines
*You will need to complete a second application directly to your host institution/provider. Exchange program participants will need to be nominated by Study Abroad in order to receive their host institution application. More information will be included in your Acceptance Letter. Contact your Study Abroad Advisor if you have questions.
Acceptance Process
Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The review will typically be completed within three to seven business days after the application is submitted. You will receive a decision letter via email once the review is complete.
- Initial approval is based on UND requirements. You must receive your acceptance from UND Study Abroad prior to completing your host institution/provider application. Some study abroad programs require home institution approval as part of the host institution/provider application. UND Study Abroad will not grant home institution approval until you have committed to your program through your Study Abroad Profile.
- Final acceptance to your program is at the discretion of the host institution/provider and not UND.
- Learn more about what steps come after acceptance.
UND Study Abroad Acceptance Letter
You will receive a letter through email that contains information about your next steps and documents for you to complete and submit to your Study Abroad Profile, including:
