North Dakota Resident Tuition Rate
Affordable In-State Tuition Rates
Active Duty and Veteran Service Members
Get the North Dakota tuition rate for all on-campus programs regardless of actual state of legal residency if you're one of the following:
- Active duty military for more than 30 days (includes National Guard and Reserves if active duty for other than training purposes)
- Member of North Dakota National Guard or Reserves
- Military veteran
- Contracted ROTC cadets at the University of North Dakota
This tuition rate policy includes undergraduates, graduates, medical and law students enrolled in on-campus programs. Students enrolled in online programs pay a flat rate per credit regardless of military status or residency. You must indicate service member, veteran or military-affiliated on your application to receive these rates. If you did not indicate your affiliation on the application, you must apply for North Dakota residency.
If you qualify for the North Dakota tuition rate under this policy, you must submit the following to UND Veteran & Military Services:
- Student's ID number.
- Copy of the service member's DD214, documentation of active duty status, or membership in the National Guard or Reserves.
Eligibility for the North Dakota tuition rate will be based on the documentation provided. Restrictions apply. The residency application and more details will be found at One-Stop Student Services. This process will only need to be completed once and updated charges will appear on your Campus Connection after the first ten days of the start of class. Students must apply and be approved for the North Dakota Resident rate within 30 days of the first day of the semester.
