International Student & Scholar Services
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) provides advising services to students and scholars in F, J, and M status at the UND.
While maintaining legal status is the responsibility of the student/scholar, ISSS provides orientation, advising, and resources throughout an individual's time at UND. Additional services include information for faculty and staff working with international students and support for cultural programming for students and the community.
International Student Resources
The International Center advises our international students to always carry their immigration documents with them, and to keep physical and digital copies readily accessible at all times.
Counseling Center
The International Center has partnered with the UND Counseling Center to create an International Student Support Group. Reach out to either the International Center or Counseling Center at 701-777-2127 and ask for Lindsay or Brenda for additional information.
Travel status
Immigration law and enforcement often change. Please be sure to stay up to date with the latest news and information.
Traveling overseas during break? Make sure you have a travel signature that will be no more than six months old when you return to the United States.
International Travel Advisory
The UND International Center recommends that international students avoid unnecessary traveling outside the United States.
If you are planning to travel outside the US, please be aware of the following potential risks and complications:
Travel restrictions can change rapidly, re-entry to the United States may become challenging and visa and immigration status could be impacted.
Recommended Approach
- Carefully evaluate the necessity of your travel and consult with the International Center before making any travel plans
- If travel is unavoidable prepare your documentation (valid passport, valid visa, valid I-20) and request travel signatures
- Understand potential risks and complications of international travel and stay informed about potential changes in travel regulations
- Monitor official communication channels for updates
- Contact the UND International Center for specific questions or individual guidance
We are issuing this advisory out of an abundance of caution to prevent any potential travel disruptions for members of our international community.
Please note that this is not a requirement or mandate of the University it is a recommendation. Students who elect to travel internationally do so at their own risk.
Please visit the UND Executive Orders & Directives website for the most up to date information available.
Virtual Services
To promote the health and safety of all faculty, staff, and students, we are happy to continue to meet virtually. However, if an in-person appointment is needed, you may contact a member of our office for an appointment.
Self-Service Tool
The UND International Center's Self-Service Tool is designed to help current UND international students to find and submit many requests/forms to ISSS without having to contact an advisor. If you have any questions or need advisement about immigration status, contact an international student advisor.
Appointments
International Student & Scholar Services appointments can be scheduled via Hawk Central or by emailing UND.internationalprograms@UND.edu.
