International Student & Scholar Services
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) provides advising services to students and scholars in F, J, and M status at the UND.
While maintaining legal status is the responsibility of the student/scholar, ISSS provides orientation, advising, and resources throughout an individual's time at UND. Additional services include information for faculty and staff working with international students and support for cultural programming for students and the community.
International Student Resources
The International Center advises our international students to always carry their immigration documents with them, and to keep physical and digital copies readily accessible at all times.
Counseling Center
The International Center has partnered with the UND Counseling Center to create an International Student Support Group. Reach out to either the International Center or Counseling Center at 701-777-2127 and ask for Lindsay or Brenda for additional information.
DHS Imposter Scams
Review the U.S. Department of Homeland Security resource on preventing scams targeting international students to learn how to recognize fraudulent contact, safeguard personal information, and take appropriate action.
International Travel Advisory
The UND International Center encourages international students to carefully consider international travel and remain informed of current immigration and re-entry requirements. Travel restrictions and immigration enforcement policies can change with little notice and may affect your ability to return to the United States or maintain your visa status.
Before traveling outside the U.S., students should:
-
Consult with the UND International Center in advance
-
Confirm that all documents are valid (passport, visa, and Form I-20) Review the UND Travel Status webpage for more details.
-
Obtain a travel signature that will be less than six months old at the time of re-entry
-
Review entry requirements for both your destination and your return to the United States
-
Monitor official government and University communications for updates
This advisory is provided to support informed decision-making. International travel is a personal choice, and students who choose to travel assume any associated risks.
For the most current University updates, visit the UND Executive Orders & Directives website. For individual guidance, contact the UND International Center directly.
Virtual Services
To promote the health and safety of all faculty, staff, and students, we are happy to continue to meet virtually. However, if an in-person appointment is needed, you may contact a member of our office for an appointment.
Self-Service Tool
The UND International Center's Self-Service Tool is designed to help current UND international students to find and submit many requests/forms to ISSS without having to contact an advisor. If you have any questions or need advisement about immigration status, contact an international student advisor.
Appointments
International Student & Scholar Services appointments can be scheduled via Hawk Central or by emailing UND.internationalprograms@UND.edu.
